Vladivostok International Airport put the transfer zone into operation
Vladivostok, February 01, 2018. – Vladivostok International Airport announces the commissioning of transfer zone. After putting of the new facility into operation Vladivostok airport will offer more comfortable service conditions to transit international and domestic passengers.
Until recently, the transfer corridor in Vladivostok airport was open only for domestic passengers. Now the international passengers making transfers in Vladivostok and domestic passengers flying abroad will be able to pass the check-in procedure for the next flight without leaving the sterile area.
The first visitors of the transfer zone were the passengers of the flight No. 3210 transiting from Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk to Seoul and Tokyo.
Ms. Lyudmila Tsoi, flying on the route Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk – Vladivostok – Seoul:
“I am a frequent visitor to Primorsky region and constantly fly to Korea via Vladivostok. I am very glad that now getting on the connecting flight in Vladivostok airport is easy and quick – we just leave the airplane via boarding bridge to the transfer hall where we go through all the procedures, and then we at once go over to the sterile area and wait for our flight to Seoul. The whole process takes very little time, and the baggage is registered without our participation – this is very convenient!”
For the record, international passengers are offered another opportunity to travel via the air harbour of Primorsky region without further visa processing.
Igor Lukishin, Director General of Vladivostok International Airport:
“The launch of technology for pre-flight servicing of international transfer passengers greatly facilitates their passing of all pre-flight procedures and makes their stay at Vladivostok airport more comfortable. As we hope, this will enable the airport and airlines to expand their transit route network and to increase passenger traffic, while the passengers will be able to fly to a larger range of international and domestic destinations.”
Aleksandr Bobrov, Commercial Aviation Director:
“Putting the transfer zone into operation will help Vladivostok airport to fully realize its potential acting as an international air gateway to the Asian part of Russia and to become the principal point of entry for the passengers from East Asian countries transiting to the Far Eastern and Siberian cities. We also expect growth in the number of Far Eastern passengers using Vladivostok for transfer to the APR countries. In addition, foreign passengers may stay in the transfer zone of Vladivostok airport without obtaining a Russian visa. Close proximity of Vladivostok to China, South Korea and Japan allows us to provide service to a part of passenger flow between these countries.”
As a reminder, the performance indicators of the air harbour of Primorye show stable growth. At year-end 2017, the airport provided service to over 2 mln. passengers, with the most substantial increase in figures (by 40%) seen in the international destinations.
