Vladivostok International Airport increased its passenger flow by 21% for 2018
The passenger flow in the domestic Russian airlines reached 1,483 thousand passengers (+6%). The highest growth rate was seen on the routes from Vladivostok to Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, Moscow and Novosibirsk.
The international passenger flow was equal to 1,151 thousand passengers (+47%). The major growth was accounted for by the flights from Vladivostok to the Republic of Korea – the passenger flow on the South Korean destinations grew by 73% from last year. Growth by 40% was recorded in flights to the South Eastern Asia, by 15% - on the Chinese and Japanese destinations. Flights from Vladivostok to South Korean cities Seoul, Daegu and Busan provided for the highest increase in the passenger flow on the international routes.
In 2018, a number of new airlines –T’way Air, Eastar Jet, China Express, Air Busan, Air Philip – came to Vladivostok International Airport. The International destinations network expanded to include new destinations, such as Daegu (T’way Air), Qiqihar (China Express), Muan (Air Philip), Sapporo (the Ural Airlines), Phu Quoc (Royal Flight). IrAero airline started to make flights on the Moscow route, and the flight to Tashkent by Uzbekistan Airways became regular.
In March 2018, Vladivostok International Airport was honoured with prestigious prize Routes Asia 2018 Marketing Awards as a part of the international air routes development conference Routes Asia 2018 held in Brisbane, Australia. Vladivostok International Airport also won the national award “Russia’s Transport Security – 2018” in the nomination “The best member of air transport infrastructure which fulfilled the requirements for transport security”.
Another important event of the last year for the company became the successful passing of the scheduled ISAGO audit confirming the compliance of the ground handling procedures with safety standards of International Air Transport Association (IATA).
In September 2018, Vladivostok International Airport successfully fulfilled the handling program for passengers and aircrafts of the participants of the IV Eastern Economic Forum. Total passenger flow for the period from September 10 till September 14 was about 47 thousand people, which is 28% higher than for the same period last year. The work of the airport was highly appraised by the public authorities, such as Federal Guard Service and Ministry of the Interior, for ensuring security and high level of protection.
During 2018, a number of services for passenger was introduced or improved at the airport. For instance, the transfer zone started working: it helps the passengers of international flights making transfers in Vladivostok and domestic passengers flying abroad to pass the check-in procedure for the next flight without leaving the waiting area. The air harbour of Primorye has also put into operation the Officials and Delegations Lounge, air training centre, a comfortable waiting zone for passengers and new shopping and service outlets providing a wide range of services to the passengers and visitors of the airport.
