Vladivostok Airport opened a new flight to Cheongju
JSC “Vladivostok International Airport” informs about launching regular charter flights to Cheongju city, South Korea. The flights on the route will be operated by Yakutia Airlines.
The maiden flight departed from Vladivostok airport on April 08 at 11:00 a.m. local time.
The flights en-route Vladivostok - Cheongju will be operated on a weekly basis on Saturday. It will be operated by a Sukhoi Superjet 100. Traveling time is 2 hours.
During summer period from 4 to 6 flights are daily operated from Vladivostok to South Korea. Additionally, this year several airline companies are in the process of in-depth study of new flights, - Alexander Bobrov, Head of Commercial Department of JSC “VIA” noted, - demand for new flights, increase of their frequency are conditioned by the growth of inbound tourism from the Republic of Korea as well as recovery of demand for overseas travel among population of our region. Open skies regime between Vladivostok and the airports of the Republic of Korea facilitates extension of throughput capacities by the company.
It should be noted that passenger flow from Vladivostok airport in South-Korean destination grew by 18 percent thanks to the growth of attractiveness of our region for foreign tourists. During Q1 this year passenger throughput expansion between Vladivostok and the airports of the Republic of Korea comprised around 25 percent, and in whole for the year it is forecasted at least at 30% level.
For information: Cheongju is an administrative center of North Chungcheong Province. North Chungcheong Province is a dynamic region, it holds the second place in terms of economic growth among the provinces of the Republic of Korea. Cheongju is located 128 south-east of Seoul. The climate in the city is of a more continental character than the climate of the rest part of Korea. Cheongju International Airport operates domestic and international flights.

According to the results of 2016 Vladivostok International Airport (JSC “VIA”) has become an absolute leader among the airports of the Far East and Eastern Siberia both in terms of international passenger flow and overall direct passenger flow. In 2016 the airport provided services to 1.85 mln passengers. Its route network includes around 40 routes operated by leading Russian and foreign airlines. The airport is qualified for receiving all aircraft types and holds an ICAO Category II status. The level of comfort in its new terminal with capacity of 3.5 mln passengers corresponds to IATA Standard “C”.
