Vladivostok Airport and VietJetAir agreed to establish regular communication between Vladivostok and cities of Vietnam
On September 06, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between JSC “Vladivostok International Airport” and Vietnamese airline VietJetAir. The agreement was signed as part of the 17th session of the intergovernmental Russian-Vietnamese Commission on trade-economic and scientific-technical cooperation held in the Far Eastern Federal University, on the Russky Island.
The objective of cooperation between the parties is the organization of regular direct flights between Russia and Vietnam. In particular, the possibility of organizing flights with a frequency of 1-2 times per week by Airbus-320 type aircraft from Vladivostok to Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City or Cam Ranh. According to the preliminary information, the opening of flights to Hanoi is most likely.
According to the Vice-president of VietJetAir airline Mr. Dinh Viet Phuong, opening of flights is planned in the coming winter navigation season.
- Taking into account the existence of a stable demand for flights to Vietnam, a direct regular flight will ensure passengers more comfort and optimal cost of air travel, - said JSC “VIA” Director General Igor Lukishin.
It should be noted that flights from Vladivostok to Vietnam are traditionally popular - they have been performed for a number of years. In 2013, only charter flights on the route Vladivostok - Cam Ranh carried more than 18 thousand passengers. At present, direct flights connecting Vladivostok and airports in Vietnam are not made, the flights are carried out with the transfer in Seoul or Hong Kong. According to the parties, the resumption of the communication is both a timely and cost-effective project.
The memorandum signed between the airline and the airport, provides for the mutual creation of conditions, the exchange of marketing and other information, supporting the organization of a ticket sales network, the interaction with the tour operators, etc. In the course of preliminary negotiations, it was decided to establish special working groups that will start implementing the project in the near future.
